Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.
The following procedure is for the LH side.
INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE GUIDE PLATE
Apply adhesive to the thread of the parking brake shoe guide plate set bolt.

Install the parking brake shoe guide plate with the parking brake shoe guide plate set bolt.
APPLY HIGH TEMPERATURE GREASE
Apply high temperature grease to the contact surface of the shoes and backing plate as shown in the illustration.
INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER
Apply high temperature grease to the hole of the parking brake shoe lever.
Using needle-nose pliers, temporarily install the parking brake lever to the shoe with a new parking brake shoe C-washer.
Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the parking brake shoe lever and C-washer.

If the clearance is not as specified, select an appropriate shim and install it between the pin of the parking brake shoe and parking brake shoe lever.

Using pliers, install the parking brake shoe C-washer.
Make sure that the parking brake shoe lever moves smoothly.
INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY
Using needle-nose pliers, connect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the parking brake shoe lever.
Install the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly with the No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring pin, No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring cup, No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring and No. 1 parking brake shoe hold down spring cup.
INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY
Install the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly with the No. 1 parking brake shoe hold down spring pin, No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring cup, parking brake shoe hold down spring and No. 1 parking brake shoe hold down spring cup.
INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET
Apply high temperature grease to the parking brake shoe adjusting bolt.
Install the No. 2 parking brake shoe return tension spring between the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly and No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.
Install the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set between the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly and No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.
INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT COMPRESSION SPRING
Install the parking brake shoe strut compression spring to the parking brake shoe strut.
INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT
Install the parking brake shoe strut between the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly and No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.
INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING
Using needle-nose pliers, install the 2 No. 1 parking brake shoe return tension springs.
Note
Install the tension spring (front side) first, and then install the tension spring (rear side).
INSPECT PARKING BRAKE INSTALLATION
Inspect that each part is installed properly.
Note
There should be no oil or grease adhering to the friction surface of the shoe lining and disc.
INSTALL REAR DISC
Align the matchmarks and install the disc.
Note
When replacing the disc with a new one, select the installation position where the disc has the minimum runout.
INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG
INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
Install the rear disc brake caliper assembly with the 2 bolts.
INSTALL REAR WHEEL
