Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
REMOVE REAR WHEEL
SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
Remove the 2 bolts and separate rear disc brake caliper assembly from the backing plate.
Do not disconnect the rear flexible hose from the rear disc brake caliper assembly.
Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the rear disc brake caliper assembly from hanging down by the rear flexible hose.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG
Remove the parking brake shoe adjusting hole plug from the rear disc.
REMOVE REAR DISC
Put matchmarks on the rear disc and axle hub.
Release the parking brake.
Turn the shoe adjuster to contract it until the disc turns freely, and then remove the rear disc.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING
Using needle-nose pliers, remove the 2 parking brake shoe return tension springs.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT
Remove the parking brake shoe strut from the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly and No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT COMPRESSION SPRING
Remove the parking brake shoe strut compression spring from the parking brake shoe strut.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET
Remove the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set.
Remove the No. 2 parking brake shoe return tension spring.
REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY
Disengage the claw of the No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring cup, and slide the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly.
Remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe hold down spring cup, parking brake shoe hold down spring, No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring cup and No. 1 parking brake shoe hold down spring pin.
Make sure to put identification tags on both parking brake shoe hold down spring and the No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring as the spring loads are different.
Remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly.
REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY
Disengage the claw of the No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring cup, and slide the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.
Remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe hold down spring cup, No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring, No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring cup and No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring pin.
Make sure to put identification tags on both parking brake shoe hold down spring and the No. 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring as the spring loads are different.
Using needle-nose pliers, separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake shoe lever as shown in the illustration, and remove the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER
Using a screwdriver, remove the parking brake shoe C-washer.
Remove the shim and parking brake shoe lever.
The shim is installed only when a clearance adjustment between the parking brake lever and C-washer is necessary. Therefore, some models may have no shim.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE GUIDE PLATE
Remove the parking brake shoe guide plate set bolt and parking brake shoe guide plate.
