Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.
The following procedure listed is for the LH side.
REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
Note
If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.
DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE
Remove the union bolt and gasket, and disconnect the front flexible hose from the front disc brake cylinder assembly.
REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
Remove the 2 bolts and the front disc brake cylinder assembly from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD
Remove the 2 front disc brake pads from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
REMOVE FRONT ANTI SQUEAL SHIM
Remove the 2 No. 1 front disc brake anti squeal shims, 2 No. 2 front disc brake anti squeal shims and No. 1 pad wear indicator plate from the 2 front disc brake pads.
REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
Remove the front disc brake cylinder slide pin from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
Remove the No. 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pin from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSH
Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, remove the front disc brake cylinder slide bush from the No. 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pin.
Note
Be careful not to damage the No. 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pin.
Tech Tips
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE BUSH DUST BOOT
Remove the 2 front disc brake bush dust boots from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE
Remove the No. 1 front disc brake pad support plate from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
Note
Each No. 1 front disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each No. 1 front disc brake pad support plate so that it can be reinstalled to its original position.
REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE
Remove the No. 2 front disc brake pad support plate from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
Note
Each No. 2 front disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each No. 2 front disc brake pad support plate so that it can be reinstalled to its original position.
REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING
Remove the 2 bolts and the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
REMOVE FRONT DISC
Put matchmarks on the front disc and front axle hub.
Tech Tips
The above step is not necessary when the front disc will be replaced.
Remove the front disc.
