CONNECT INTELLIGENT TESTER
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Start the engine and run it at idle.
Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Active Test.
Tech Tips
Refer to the intelligent tester operator's manual for further details.
INSPECT ACTUATOR MOTOR OPERATION
Note
Do not keep the motor relay on for more than 5 seconds. If it needs to be operated repeatedly, wait 20 seconds between each operation.
Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Active Test / Motor Relay.
Turn the motor relay on and check for actuator motor operation noise.
If the operation noise cannot be heard, replace the actuator because the motor operation is abnormal.
Turn the motor relay off.
INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Front Right Wheel)
Note
Do not keep the motor relay on for more than 5 seconds. If it needs to be operated repeatedly, wait 20 seconds between each operation.
Do not keep a solenoid on for more than 10 seconds. If it needs to be operated repeatedly, wait 20 seconds between each operation.
Never depress the brake pedal when only the reduction solenoid is turned on as the ABS ECU will be reset.
Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Active Test / ABS Solenoid (SFRH) and ABS Solenoid (SFRR).
Fully depress the brake pedal and hold it for approximately 15 seconds. Check that the pedal's initial depth is maintained for the entire 15 seconds.
If the brake pedal goes down, replace the actuator because the sealing condition of the reduction solenoid valve is abnormal.
Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Active Test / Motor Relay.
Check that the brake pedal does not pulsate when the motor relay is turned on by the intelligent tester.
If the brake pedal pulsates, replace the actuator because the sealing condition of the reduction solenoid valve is abnormal.
Turn the motor relay off.
Depress the brake pedal and hold it.
Check that the brake pedal does not go down further when the SFRH and SFRR solenoids are turned on by the intelligent tester.
If the brake pedal goes down, replace the actuator because the holding solenoid valve operation is abnormal.
Tech Tips
To protect the solenoids, the intelligent tester automatically turns each solenoid off 2 seconds after it is turned on.
Check that the brake pedal goes down further when the solenoids are turned off.
If the brake pedal does not go down, replace the actuator because the reduction solenoid valve operation is abnormal.
Check that the brake pedal returns when the motor relay is turned on by the intelligent tester.
If the brake pedal does not return, replace the actuator because the motor operation is abnormal.
Turn the motor relay off and release the brake pedal.
INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Front Left Wheel)
Use the same procedure described for the front right wheel to check the solenoids of the front left wheel.
Tech Tips
Front left wheel: SFLH, SFLR
INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Rear Right Wheel)
Use the same procedure described for the front right wheel to check the solenoids of the rear right wheel.
Tech Tips
Rear right wheel: SRRH, SRRR
INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Rear Left Wheel)
Use the same procedure described for the front right wheel to check the solenoids of the rear left wheel.
Tech Tips
Rear left wheel: SRLH, SRLR
