FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY DISASSEMBLY


  1. SEPARATE NO. 2 FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

      for one touch type:


      1. Using a screwdriver, release the staked part of the No. 2 front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH and separate the No. 2 front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration.

    2. for claw engagement type:


      1. Using needle-nose pliers, disengage the 2 claws and remove the No. 2 front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration.

  2. SEPARATE NO. 2 FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  3. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the No. 2 front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH.

  4. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the No. 2 front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH.

  5. SEPARATE INBOARD JOINT BOOT (for LH Side)


    1. Separate the inboard joint boot from the front drive inboard joint assembly LH.

  6. SEPARATE INBOARD JOINT BOOT (for RH Side)

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  7. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Remove the old grease from the front drive inboard joint assembly LH.

      Put matchmarks on the front drive inboard joint assembly LH and front axle outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

      Note

      Do not punch the marks.

    3. Remove the front drive inboard joint assembly LH from the front axle outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

    4. Secure the front axle outboard joint shaft assembly LH in a vise using aluminum plates.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

    5. A01CE76

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the shaft snap ring from the front axle outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

    6. A01CAV0E02

      Put matchmarks on the front axle outboard joint shaft assembly LH and tripod.

      Note

      Do not punch the marks.

    7. Using a brass bar and a hammer, tap out the tripod from the front axle outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

      Note


      • Do not tap the rollers.

      • Do not drop the tripod.

    8. Remove the No. 2 front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH, inboard joint boot and front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH.

  8. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  9. SEPARATE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER CLAMP LH


    1. A01CCKVE05

      for one touch type:


      1. Using a screwdriver, release the staked part of the front drive shaft damper clamp LH and separate the front drive shaft damper clamp LH as shown in the illustration.

    2. for claw engagement type:


      1. Using needle-nose pliers, disengage the 2 claws and remove the front drive shaft damper clamp LH as shown in the illustration.

  10. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER LH


    1. Remove the front drive shaft damper LH from the front axle outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

  11. SEPARATE NO. 2 FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

      Using a screwdriver, release the staked part of the No. 2 front axle outboard joint boot clamp LH and separate the No. 2 front axle outboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration.

  12. SEPARATE NO. 2 FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  13. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

    Perform the same procedure as for the No. 2 front axle outboard joint boot clamp LH.

  14. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the No. 2 front axle outboard joint boot clamp LH.

  15. REMOVE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT (for LH Side)


    1. Remove the front axle outboard joint boot clamp LH, outboard joint boot and No. 2 front axle outboard joint boot clamp LH from the front axle outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

    2. Remove the old grease from the outboard joint.

  16. REMOVE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT (for RH Side)

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  17. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER LH

      Using SST and a press, remove the front drive shaft dust cover LH from the front drive inboard joint assembly LH.

      Note

      Do not drop the front drive inboard joint assembly LH.

  18. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER RH

      Using a press, remove the front drive shaft dust cover RH.

      Note

      Do not drop the front drive inboard joint assembly RH.

  19. REMOVE DRIVE SHAFT BEARING CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)


    1. Secure the drive shaft bearing case sub-assembly in a vise using aluminum plates.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

      Using a screwdriver, remove the bearing case snap ring from the drive shaft bearing case sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

    3. A01CATP

      Using a press, remove the drive shaft bearing case sub-assembly from the front drive inboard joint assembly RH.

      Note

      Do not drop the front drive inboard joint assembly RH.

  20. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER (for RH Side)

      Using SST and a press, remove the front drive shaft dust cover from the front drive inboard joint assembly RH.

      Do not drop the front drive inboard joint assembly RH.

  21. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT BEARING (for RH Side)

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.

    2. A01CE38E02

      Using SST and a press, remove the front drive shaft bearing from the front drive inboard joint assembly RH.

    3. Remove the bearing case snap ring.
