AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SYSTEM Transmission Control Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When moving the shift lever into the S position using the transmission control switch, it is possible to switch the shift range position between "1" (first range) and "4" (fourth range).

Shifting up "+" once raises one shift range position, and shifting down "-" lowers one shift range position.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH)


    1. A01CG70E25

      Disconnect the transmission control switch connector of shift lock control unit assembly.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G2-6 (IG) - Body ground IG switch ON 11 to 14 V
      IG switch OFF Below 1 V

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - BODY GROUND)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      G2-11 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  3. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH)


    1. A01CD5YE32

      Measure resistance between each terminal of shift lock control unit assembly when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard resistance (Check for short)
      Tester Connection Shift Position Specified Condition
      G2-6 (IG) - G2-13 (S) S, "+" and "-" Below 1 Ω
      Except S, "+" and "-" 10 kΩ or higher
      G2-5 (SFTU) - G2-11 (E)

      Press continuously

      "+"

      (Up shift)

      Below 1 Ω
      S 10 kΩ or higher
      G2-4 (SFTD) - G2-11 (E)

      Press continuously

      "-"

      (Down shift)

      Below 1 Ω
      S 10 kΩ or higher

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - ECM)


    1. Connect the transmission control switch connector of shift lock control unit assembly.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

      Turn the engine switch on (IG), and measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard voltage
      Tester Connection Shift Position Specified Condition
      D41-74 (S) - Body ground S, "+" and "-" 11 to 14 V
      Except S, "+" and "-" Below 1 V
    4. Turn the engine switch off.

    5. A01CDWLE57

      Disconnect the ECM connector.

    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      A8-16 (SFTU) - Body ground

      Press continuously

      "+"

      (Up shift)

      Below 1 Ω
      S 10 kΩ or higher
