LUBRICATION SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL


    1. Warm up and stop the engine, then wait for 5 minutes.

    2. Check that the engine oil level is between the low and full marks of the oil dipstick.

      If low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full mark.

      Note

      Do not add engine oil to above the full level mark.

  2. CHECK ENGINE OIL QUALITY


    1. Check the oil for deterioration, water intrusion, discoloration or thinning.

      If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil.

  3. CHECK OIL PRESSURE


    1. Warm up and stop the engine.

    2. Remove the oil pressure switch assembly Click here.

      *1 Oil Pressure Gauge

      Install the oil pressure gauge.

    4. Measure the oil pressure.

      Standard Oil Pressure
      Condition Specified Condition
      Idle

      32 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.6 psi) or more

      3000 rpm

      170 to 300 kPa (1.7 to 3.1 kgf/cm2, 25 to 44 psi)

      If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump Click here.

    5. Install the oil pressure switch assembly Click here.

    6. Check for engine oil leaks.
