INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY
Measure the resistance between the injector terminals.
| Standard Resistance | ||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
|
If the result is not as specified, replace the injector.
Inspect the injector injection volume.
CAUTION:
Keep the injector away from sparks during this test.
| *1 | SST (Hose) |
| *2 | SST (Hose Band) |
| *3 | SST (Fuel Tube Connector) |
| *4 | Fuel Pipe (Vehicle Side) |
Connect SST (fuel tube connector) to SST (hose) with SST (hose band), and then connect them to the fuel pipe (vehicle side).
Install the O-ring to the fuel injector.
| *1 | SST (Hose) |
| *2 | SST (Clip) |
| *3 | SST (Adapter) |
| *4 | SST (Clamp) |
| *5 | Vinyl Tube |
Connect SST (adapter and hose) to the fuel injector assembly, and hold the fuel injector assembly and union with SST (clamp).
| *1 | SST (Tie Band) |
| *2 | SST (Adapter) |
| *3 | SST (Clamp) |
Tie SST (clamp and adapter) together with SST (tie band) as shown in the illustration.
Put the injector into a graduated cylinder.
CAUTION:
Install a suitable vinyl tube onto the injector to contain gasoline spray.
Operate the fuel pump Click here.
| *1 | SST (Wire) |
| *a | Connect |
Connect SST (wire) to the injector and the battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with the graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.
Note
Always switch the voltage on and off at the battery side, not the fuel injector assembly side.
| Standard injection volume |
|---|
| 76 to 92 cc (4.6 to 5.6 cu.in.) per 15 seconds |
| Standard difference between each injector |
|---|
| 16 cc (1.0 cu.in.) or less |
If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector assembly.
Inspect the fuel leakage.
Disconnect the SST (wire) tester probes from the battery and check the fuel leakage from the injector.
| Standard fuel drop |
|---|
| 1 drop or less per 12 minutes |
If there are excessive leaks, replace the injector assembly.
Remove SST.
