REAR BUMPER REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE PINTLE HOOK ASSEMBLY (w/ Pintle Hook)

    1. For vehicles with a spare tire installed to the underbody, remove the spare tire.

    2. Remove the 4 nuts.

    3. Remove the 4 bolts and pintle hook.

  2. REMOVE JACK BOX HOLE COVER

    *1 Protective Tape

    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the jack box hole cover.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  3. REMOVE REAR BUMPER BAR PLATE


    1. Put protective tape around the rear bumper bar plate.

    2. Detach the 14 claws and remove the rear bumper bar plate.

  4. REMOVE BACK DOOR CHECK

    Note


    • If the back door check is detached from a ball joint, do not reuse it as the connection with the ball joint will be loose, resulting in the back door check falling off.

    • If the back door check is detached from a ball joint, it becomes non-reusable. Therefore, do not detach the back door check from a ball joint unless replacing it.

      Remove the 2 bolts

    2. Using a clip remover, detach the clip and remove the back door check with back door lower damper stay bracket.

    3. A00JVY6

      Detach the wire harness clamp.

    4. Remove the 3 bolts and back door check with back door lower damper stay bracket.

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 REAR BUMPER PLATE


    1. Put protective tape around the No. 1 rear bumper plate.

    2. Detach the 10 claws and 10 guides and remove the No. 1 rear bumper plate.

  6. REMOVE REAR QUARTER PANEL MUDGUARD LH

    1. Remove the 2 clips and 5 screws.

    2. Remove the rear quarter panel mudguard.

  7. REMOVE REAR QUARTER PANEL MUDGUARD RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  8. REMOVE REAR BUMPER COVER (for 5 Door)


    1. Put protective tape around the rear bumper cover.

    2. Remove the 2 clips and 6 bolts.

    3. Detach the 14 claws.

    4. w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System, w/ Rear Fog Light:

      Disconnect the 4 connectors.

    5. w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System, w/o Rear Fog Light:

      Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    6. w/o TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System, w/ Rear Fog Light:

      Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    7. Remove the rear bumper cover.

  9. REMOVE REAR BUMPER COVER (for 3 Door)


    1. Put protective tape around the rear bumper cover.

    2. Remove the 2 clips and 7 bolts.

    3. Detach the 10 claws.

    4. w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System, w/ Rear Fog Light:

      Disconnect the 4 connectors.

    5. w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System, w/o Rear Fog Light:

      Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    6. w/o TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System, w/ Rear Fog Light:

      Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    7. Remove the rear bumper cover.

  10. REMOVE NO. 3 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT

    1. Remove the screw and No. 3 rear bumper side support.

  11. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH


    1. Remove the 3 screws.

    2. Using a clip remover, detach the 4 claws and remove the rear bumper side support.

      Note

      Tape the clip remover tip before use.

  12. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  13. REMOVE REAR BUMPER END RETAINER LH (w/ Rear Bumper End Retainer)

    1. Remove the screw and rear bumper end retainer.

  14. REMOVE REAR BUMPER END RETAINER RH (w/ Rear Bumper End Retainer)

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  15. REMOVE REAR BUMPER BAR REINFORCEMENT LH

    1. Remove the 3 bolts and rear bumper bar reinforcement.

  16. REMOVE REAR BUMPER BAR REINFORCEMENT RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  17. REMOVE NO. 2 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH

    1. Remove the bolt and No. 2 rear bumper side support.

  18. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SIDE MOUNTING BRACKET LH

    1. w/ Entry and Start System:

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the bolt and rear bumper side moulding bracket.

  19. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SIDE MOUNTING BRACKET RH

  20. REMOVE ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA (w/ Entry and Start System)

    1. Remove the bolt and electrical key antenna.
