DRIVE BELT (for 5L-E) ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

      Visually check the belt for cracks, oiliness or wear. Check that the belt does not touch the bottom of the pulley groove.

      If necessary, replace the belt.

      Check the drive belt deflection by pressing on the belt at the point indicated in the illustration with 98 N (10 kgf, 22 lbf) of force.

      Standard Drive Belt Deflection

      7.5 to 9.5 mm

      (0.295 to 0.374 in.)
      Used belt

      9.0 to 13 mm

      (0.354 to 0.512 in.)

      If necessary, adjust the drive belt deflection.

    3. Using a belt tension gauge, check the drive belt tension.

      (45 to 55 kgf, 99.1 to 121 lbf)
      Used belt

      245 to 343 N

      (25 to 35 kgf, 55.1 to 77.1 lbf)

      • If the belt tension is not as specified, adjust it.
