POWER STEERING SYSTEM (w/ VSC) Power Steering Warning Light Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The power steering ECU is connected to the combination meter via CAN communication. If the power steering ECU detects a malfunction, the power steering warning light comes on. At this time, the vehicle enters fail-safe mode.

  1. INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM


    1. Check for DTCs of the CAN communication system.

      for LHD with Entry and Start System:

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER STEERING ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

      Disconnect the power steering ECU connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G46-5 (IG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (METER/GAUGE SYSTEM)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the intelligent tester on.

    3. Perform the Active Test of the combination meter using the intelligent tester Click here.

    4. Check that the power steering warning light operates in accordance with the Active Test.

      Tech Tips

      Reconnect the connectors and restore the vehicle to its previous condition before checking the combination meter.
