BACK DOOR GLASS (w/ Back Door Tire Carrier) INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS CLIP LH

      Apply Primer G to the glass where the clip will be installed.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

    2. Remove the peeling paper from a new clip. Install a clip to the glass at the locations shown in the illustration.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

    2. Remove the peeling paper from a new clip. Install a clip to the glass at the locations shown in the illustration.

  3. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS ADHESIVE DAM

    1. Apply Primer G to the glass where the dam will be installed.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

    2. Remove the peeling paper from 2 new dams. Install the 2 dams to the glass at the locations shown in the illustration.

  4. INSTALL BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING

    1. Using a brush or sponge, coat the application area of the back window glass outside moulding with Primer G.

  5. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS

      Position the glass.


      1. Using suction cups, place the glass in the correct position.

      2. Check that the entire contact surface of the glass rim is perfectly even.

      3. Place matchmarks on the glass and vehicle body on the locations indicated in the illustration.

        Tech Tips


        • Placing matchmarks is only necessary when installing a new glass. When reusing the glass, matchmarks should already be present.

        • When reusing the glass, check and correct the matchmark positions.

        Note

        Check that the clips are attached to the vehicle body correctly.

      4. Using suction cups, remove the glass.

      Using a brush or sponge, apply Primer M to the exposed part of the vehicle body.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

    3. Using a brush or sponge, apply Primer G to the contact surface of the glass.

      Tech Tips

      If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

    4. Apply adhesive to the back door glass.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent

      1. Cut off the tip of a cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration below.

        Tech Tips

        After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time written in the table below.

      2. Load a sealer gun with the cartridge.

      3. Apply adhesive to the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

    5. Install the back door glass to the vehicle body.


      1. Hold the back window glass securely in place with tape or equivalent until the adhesive has hardened.

        Note


        • Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.

        • Check that the clips are attached to the vehicle body correctly.

        • Check the clearance between the vehicle body and glass.

      2. Lightly press the front surface of the back window glass to ensure that the back window glass is securely installed to the vehicle body.

      3. Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

        Tech Tips

        Apply adhesive to any areas where the amount of adhesive is inadequate.

        Note

        Do not drive the vehicle within the time written in the table below.

      4. Connect the connectors.

  6. CHECK FOR LEAK AND REPAIR


    1. After the adhesive has hardened, apply water from the outside of the vehicle. Check that no water leaks into the cabin.

    2. If water leaks into the cabin, allow the water to dry and add adhesive.

    3. Remove the protective tape.

  7. INSTALL BACK WINDOW UPPER OUTSIDE MOULDING


    1. Apply Primer G to the glass where the moulding will be installed.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

    2. Remove the peeling paper from 2 new upper outside mouldings. Install the 2 moulding to the glass at the locations shown in the illustration.

  8. INSTALL NO. 1 BACK WINDOW WIPER MOTOR BRACKET


    1. A00JZH9

      Attach the 2 clips to install the No. 1 back window wiper motor bracket.

    2. Install the 3 bolts.

    3. Attach the washer hose clamp.

  9. INSTALL REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the 2 guides and temporarily install the rear wiper motor assembly with the 3 bolts.

    2. Tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }
    3. Connect the connector.

  10. INSTALL REAR WIPER ARM

      Clean the wiper arm serrations.

      Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

    3. Operate the rear wiper and stop the rear wiper motor at the automatic stop position.

      Tech Tips

      The wiper motor does not operate if the back door and back door glass are not closed.

    5. Install the rear wiper arm and blade assembly with the nut.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Hold the wiper arm by hand while tightening the nut.

  11. INSTALL REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  12. INSTALL REAR SPOILER COVER RH


    1. Attach the 2 clips to install the rear spoiler cover.

  13. INSTALL BACK DOOR INSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Face to Face Seat Type)

      Connect the 2 cables to the inside handle sub-assembly.

    2. Attach the claws and guide to install the inside handle sub-assembly.

  14. INSTALL BACK DOOR TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY


    1. w/o Back Door Tire Carrier:


      1. Attach the 15 clips to install the back door trim panel assembly.

      2. Install the bolt.

    2. w/ Back Door Tire Carrier:


      1. Attach the 16 clips to install the back door trim panel assembly.

      2. Install the bolt.

    3. for Face to Face Seat Type:


      1. Attach the 15 clips to install the back door trim panel assembly.

      2. Install the bolt.

    4. Install the screw.

    5. Attach the claw to install the cover.

  15. INSTALL BACK DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL (for Face to Face Seat Type)


    1. Attach the 5 claws to install the back door inside handle bezel.

    2. Install the screw.

  16. INSTALL TOOL CASE


    1. Attach the 2 claws to install the tool case.

  17. INSTALL UPPER TOOL BOX PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Attach the 3 claws.

    2. Install the upper tool box panel sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

  18. INSTALL BACK DOOR TRIM COVER

      Attach the 4 claws.

    2. Install the back door trim cover as shown in the illustration.

  19. INSTALL BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH LH


    1. Attach the 2 clips and claw to install the back door side garnish.

    1. Attach the 2 clips and claw to install the back door side garnish.

  21. INSTALL BACK DOOR CENTER GARNISH


    1. Attach the 4 clips to install the back door center garnish.

  22. INSTALL NO. 2 SPARE WHEEL COVER

      Install the No. 2 spare wheel cover with the 4 screws.

      Attach the 8 claws to install the spare wheel cover.

    2. Move the lever.

      Install the bolt.

      Torque:
      14 N*m  { 143 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf }
