ECD SYSTEM (w/ DPF) Injector Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The injector driver drives the injectors at high speeds with a high-voltage DC/DC converter. The ECM constantly monitors the injector driver and stops the engine if an abnormal condition is detected.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • Inspect the fuses of circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

  • After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration Click here and initialization Click here.

  • After replacing the fuel supply pump assembly, the ECM needs initialization Click here.

  • After replacing an injector assembly, the ECM needs registration Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK INJECTOR DRIVER (POWER SOURCE)

      (to Injector Driver)

      Disconnect the injector driver connectors.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      C121-2 (+B) - C121-4 (GND) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
    3. Reconnect the injector driver connectors.

  2. INSPECT EDU RELAY


    1. Inspect the EDU relay Click here.


    NG
    OK
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EDU RELAY - INJECTOR DRIVER)


    1. Remove the EDU relay from the engine room relay block.

    2. Disconnect the injector driver connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C121-2 (+B) - EDU relay terminal 3 Always Below 1 Ω
      C121-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C121-2 (+B) or EDU relay terminal 3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the injector driver connector.

    5. Reinstall the EDU relay.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EDU RELAY - NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY, BATTERY)


    1. Remove the EDU relay from the engine room relay block.

    2. Remove the No. 1 integration relay from the engine room relay block.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EDU relay terminal 3 - 1B-5 Always Below 1 Ω
      EDU relay terminal 5 - positive (+) battery terminal Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EDU relay terminal 3 or 1B-5 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      EDU relay terminal 5 or positive (+) battery terminal - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reinstall the EDU relay.

    5. Reinstall the No. 1 integration relay.

  5. INSPECT NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY (EFI)


    1. Inspect the No. 1 integration relay (EFI) Click here.

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EDU RELAY - ECM)


    1. Remove the EDU relay from the engine room relay block.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G58-12 (IREL) - EDU relay terminal 2 Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G58-12 (IREL) or EDU relay terminal 2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    5. Reinstall the EDU relay.
