  1. IGNITION SWITCH EXPRESSION

    1. The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

Expression Ignition Switch (Position) Engine Switch (Condition)
      Ignition Switch off LOCK Off
Ignition Switch ACC ACC On (ACC)
Ignition Switch ON ON On (IG)
      Engine Start START Start
  2. INITIALIZATION

    Note

    • Perform initialization (throttle position) after replacing the throttle body with motor assembly or cleaning any throttle body components Click here.

    • Perform initialization (throttle position) after reconnecting the battery cable or replacing the ECM Click here.

    • Perform reset memory (A/T initialization) when replacing the automatic transmission assembly, engine assembly or ECM Click here.

    • If the ECM is replaced, register the ECM communication ID for the immobiliser system (refer to the Service Bulletin for Registration).

    Tech Tips

Initialization cannot be completed only by disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal.

  3. USING INTELLIGENT TESTER

    CAUTION:

Observe the following items for safety reasons:

    • Read the tester's instruction books before using the tester.

    • Make sure that the tester cable is not caught on the pedals, shift lever or steering wheel when driving with the tester connected to the vehicle.

    • When driving the vehicle for testing purposes using the tester, two persons are required. One person drives the vehicle and the other operates the tester.

  4. DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT CABLE OF NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    A00O5KDE05
    *1 Cable
    *2 Negative (-) Battery Terminal

    1. Before performing electronic work, disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal in order to prevent it from shorting and burning out.

    2. Before disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cable, turn the ignition switch off and the headlight dimmer switch off. Then loosen the terminal nut completely. Do not damage the cable or terminal.

    3. When the battery cable is disconnected, the clock and radio settings and stored DTCs are cleared. Therefore, before disconnecting the battery cable, make a note of the settings.

    Note

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
