WINDSHIELD GLASS REMOVAL

  1. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Remove the nut and front wiper arm and blade assembly LH.

    1. Remove the nut and front wiper arm and blade assembly RH.

  3. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH

    1. Disengage the 2 clips and 3 guides, and remove the front fender to cowl side seal LH as shown in the illustration.

  4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  5. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Disengage the 6 claws and guide as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disengage the 8 guides and pull out the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

  6. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (w/o EC Mirror)

    1. Using a T20 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the screw.

    2. Slide the inner rear view mirror assembly as shown in the illustration to remove it.

  7. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR STAY HOLDER COVER (w/ EC Mirror)

    1. Disengage the 2 guides and slide the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover.

  8. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (w/ EC Mirror)

    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Using a T20 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the screw.

    3. Slide the inner rear view mirror assembly as shown in the illustration to remove it.

  9. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

    1. Disconnect the front door opening trim weatherstrip LH.

  10. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH

    1. Pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and disengage the garnish from the base of the 2 clips.

      Make the front pillar garnish LH hang down from the front pillar garnish clip.

    2. While pushing the tabs on the front pillar garnish clip in the direction indicated by the arrow (A) shown in the illustration, disengage the front pillar garnish clip.

    3. Pull the garnish in the direction indicated by the arrow (B) shown in the illustration to disengage the 2 guides and remove the front pillar garnish LH.

    4. Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.

      1. Cover the airbag with a piece of cloth or nylon and secure the edges of the cover with tape as shown in the illustration.

        Note

  11. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH

    1. Disconnect the front door opening trim weatherstrip RH.

  13. REMOVE ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (w/o Sliding Roof)

    1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips.

  14. REMOVE ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (w/ Sliding Roof)

    1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips.

  15. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY (w/o Sliding Roof)

    1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the No. 1 room light lens.

  18. REMOVE REAR ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 assist grip covers.

  24. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER

    1. Turn the visor holder approximately 45° and pull it out as shown in the illustration.

  25. REMOVE SLIDING ROOF OPENING TRIM MOULDING (w/ Sliding Roof)

    1. Remove the sliding roof opening trim moulding.

  26. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY

    1. Slightly lower the front section of the roof headlining assembly so that the windshield glass can be removed.

      Note

      Do not damage the roof headlining assembly or body interior.

      Tech Tips

      It is not necessary to completely remove the roof headlining assembly.

  27. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. w/ Front Window Deicer System:

      1. Disengage each clamp and disconnect the connector.

    2. Apply protective tape to the area around the installation position of the windshield glass on the vehicle body to prevent it from being scratched.

    3. Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and glass from the interior as shown in the illustration.

    4. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handles.

    5. Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the windshield glass sub-assembly.

      Note

      • When separating the windshield glass sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the paint or interior and exterior ornaments.

      • To prevent the safety pad from being scratched when removing the windshield glass, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and safety pad.

    6. Place matchmarks on the windshield glass sub-assembly and vehicle body on the locations indicated in the illustration.

      Matchmarks are not necessary if the windshield glass sub-assembly is not going to be reused.

    7. Disconnect the windshield glass stoppers.

      Note

      • There are No. 1 and No. 2 stoppers on the windshield glass as shown in the illustration. Be careful not to damage the windshield glass when cutting off the adhesive.

      • To prevent the windshield glass from falling when performing this operation, be sure to hold the windshield glass using suction cups.

      Tech Tips

      Depending on the vehicle, either 1-piece or 2-piece type stoppers may be present.

    8. Using suction cups, remove the windshield glass sub-assembly.

      Note

      • Be careful not to drop the windshield glass sub-assembly.

      • Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the windshield glass sub-assembly.

  28. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS ADHESIVE DAM

    1. When reusing the windshield glass:

      1. Using a scraper, remove the windshield glass adhesive dam.

  29. REMOVE WINDSHIELD OUTSIDE MOULDING

    1. When reusing the windshield glass:

  32. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS RETAINER

  34. CLEAN WINDSHIELD GLASS

    1. When reusing the windshield glass:

      1. Using a scraper, remove any adhesive dam and adhesive residue from the windshield glass.

        Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.

      2. Clean the outer circumference of the windshield glass with a non-residue solvent.

        Note

        • Do not touch the windshield glass surface after cleaning it.

        • Even if using a new windshield glass, clean the windshield glass with a non-residue solvent.

  35. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY

    1. Clean and shape the contact surfaces of the vehicle body.
