TCM REMOVAL

If automatic transmission parts are replaced, refer to Parts Replacement Compensation Table to determine if any additional operations are necessary Click here.

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL

    1. Remove the 7 clips and cool air intake duct seal.

  3. REMOVE INLET NO. 2 AIR CLEANER

    1. Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps and vacuum hose clamp.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and inlet No. 2 air cleaner.

  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector and wire harness clamp.

    2. Disconnect the 3 hoses.

    3. Separate the ventilation hose.

    4. Loosen the hose clamp and separate the air cleaner cap sub-assembly from the throttle with motor body assembly.

    5. Release the 2 clamps and remove the air cleaner cap with hose.

  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the wire harness clamp, connector, vacuum hose and No. 1 fuel vapor feed hose.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and air cleaner case sub-assembly.

  7. REMOVE BATTERY

    1. Disconnect the positive (+) cable from the positive (+) battery terminal.

    2. Loosen the nut and remove the bolt.

    3. Remove the battery and battery tray.

  8. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY

  9. REMOVE INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER

    1. Disengage the pin and remove the inlet No. 1 air cleaner.

  10. REMOVE TCM

    1. Turn the lock lever and disconnect the connector from the TCM.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and TCM from the automatic transaxle assembly.
