BACK DOOR SUPPORT INSTALLATION

Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

INSTALL BACK DOOR STAY ASSEMBLY LH
1. When reusing the back door stay:
  1. Clean the threaded surface on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.
  2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the 2 bolts.
    
    Adhesive
    
    Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
  3. Install the back door stay with the 2 bolts.
    
    CAUTION:
    
    Install the door stay while supporting the back door with one hand.
    
    Torque:
    
    22 N*m { 224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }
  4. Apply adhesive to the threads of the bolt.
    
    Adhesive
    
    Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
  5. Install the back door stay bolt to the body.
    
    CAUTION:
    
    Install the door stay bolt while supporting the back door with one hand.
    
    Torque:
    
    18 N*m { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }
2. When replacing the back door stay with a new one:
  1. Clean the threaded surface on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.
  2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the bolt.
    
    Adhesive
    
    Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
  3. Install the back door stay bolt to the body.
    
    CAUTION:
    
    Install the door stay while supporting the back door with one hand.
    
    Torque:
    
    18 N*m { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }
  4. Apply adhesive to the threads of the 2 bolts.
    
    Adhesive
    
    Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
  5. Install the back door stay with the 2 bolts.
    
    CAUTION:
    
    Install the door stay while supporting the back door with one hand.
    
    Torque:
    
    22 N*m { 224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }
  6. Connect the ball joint of the back door stay bolt to the back door stay assembly LH.
  7. Check that the back door stay assembly does not come off.
