B1000/31 Center Airbag Sensor Assembly Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The center airbag sensor consists of the airbag sensor, the safing sensor, the drive circuit, the diagnosis circuit, the ignition control, etc.

If the center airbag sensor receives signals from the airbag sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.

DTC B1000/31 is output when a malfunction is detected in the center airbag sensor.

Tech Tips

When a trouble code is output simultaneously with B1000/31, repair the malfunction indicated by the other code first.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    2. Check for DTCs Click here.

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1000/31 is output A
      DTC B1000/31 and other DTCs are output B

      Note

      If only DTC B1000/31 is output, do not clear the DTCs. Instead, immediately replace the center airbag sensor assembly.

      Tech Tips

      If any DTCs other than DTC B1000/31 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.
