DESCRIPTION
The ECM monitors the voltage output to the throttle actuator. This self-check ensures that the ECM is functioning properly. The output voltage is usually 0 V when the ignition switch is turned off. If the output voltage is 7 V or higher when the ignition switch is turned off, the ECM will illuminate the MIL and store this DTC when the ignition switch is turned to ON.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0657)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs Click here.
Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal and wait for 1 minute.
Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
Turn the ignition switch to ON for 10 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch off.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Read the DTCs.
