REAR BUMPER REASSEMBLY


  1. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR BUMPER REINFORCEMENT


    1. A01G818

      Install the No. 1 rear bumper reinforcement with the 6 nuts.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER

      Engage the 2 guides to install the rear bumper energy absorber.

  3. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH

      Engage the 2 guides and claw.

    2. A01G5UG

      Install the screw.

    3. A01G964

      Install the screw.

    4. A01G6XK

      Install the No. 1 rear bumper side support LH with the 2 grommets.

  4. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  5. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH

      Engage the 5 claws.

      Engage the 4 clips to install the No. 2 rear bumper side support LH as shown in the illustration.

  6. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  7. INSTALL LOWER REAR BUMPER RETAINER (w/o Tail Exhaust Pipe Baffle)

      Engage the 10 claws.

      Install the lower rear bumper retainer with the 2 screws.

  8. INSTALL NO. 2 LUGGAGE ROOM WIRE (w/ LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System)

    Tech Tips

    When installing the ultrasonic sensor clip, heat the rear bumper assembly using a heat light.

    Heating Temperature
    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Assembly 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the front bumper assembly excessively.


    1. Clean the rear bumper assembly surface.


      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper assembly surface.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the rear bumper assembly.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

    2. Install the ultrasonic sensor clip.

        Coat the installation surface on the rear bumper assembly with primer as shown in the illustration.

      2. Remove the release paper from a new ultrasonic sensor clip.

        Tech Tips

        After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

        Install a new ultrasonic sensor clip.

        Note


        • Make sure that the ultrasonic sensor clip are installed in the line as shown in the illustration.

        • Allow the primer to dry for 10 minutes or more.

        • If 24 hours have elapsed since primer was applied, reapply primer

      4. Lightly press the surface of each ultrasonic sensor clip to ensure a close fit.

      Engage the clamp to install the No. 2 luggage room wire.

  9. INSTALL NO. 1 ULTRASONIC SENSOR RETAINER (w/ LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System)

    Tech Tips


    • Perform this step only when necessary.

    • If a No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer has been removed, install a new one and the ultrasonic sensor with clip as a set to the rear bumper assembly.

    • Use the same procedure for all No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer.

      Engage the 2 claws and install a new No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer to the ultrasonic sensor with clip.

      Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer installation area.

      Note


      • Use a clean brush or felt.

      • Do not touch the rear bumper assembly until the primer has dried.

    3. Peel off the release paper from the new No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer.

      Press on the areas indicated by the arrows in the illustration to install the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer and the ultrasonic sensor with clip as a set.

      Note

      Do not damage the rear bumper assembly with the protrusion when installing the retainer.

      Tech Tips

      Stick the new No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer on the line marked on the rear bumper assembly.

  10. INSTALL ULTRASONIC SENSOR WITH CLIP (w/ LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System)

      Engage the 2 claws to install the ultrasonic sensor with clip.

      Engage the clamp and connect the connector.

  11. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY LH

      Engage the claw.

    2. Install the reflex reflector assembly LH with the screw.

  12. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  13. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PAD RH


    1. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      Install a new rear bumper pad RH.

      Tech Tips

      Stick the new rear bumper pad RH on the line marked on the rear bumper assembly.

  14. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PAD LH


    1. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      Install a new rear bumper pad LH.

      Tech Tips

      Stick the new rear bumper pad LH on the line marked on the rear bumper assembly.
