FRONT BRAKE REASSEMBLY

Tech Tips

for 2-pot Caliper:

Perform the removal and installation of the front disc brake piston, cylinder boot and piston seal one side at a time.


  1. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN FRONT DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG

    Tech Tips

    Fully tighten the front disc brake bleeder plug after bleeding.

  2. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG CAP

  3. INSTALL PISTON SEAL

      Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of a new piston seal.

    2. Install the piston seal to the front disc brake cylinder.

      Note

      Securely install the piston seal to the groove of the front disc brake cylinder.

  4. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE PISTON

      *1 Cylinder Boot
      *2 Front Disc Brake Piston
      A01G6V4 Lithium Soap Base Glycol Grease

      Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of a new cylinder boot.

    2. Install the cylinder boot to the front disc brake piston.

    3. Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the contact surfaces of the front disc brake piston, and install it to the front disc brake cylinder.

      Note

      Do not install the front disc brake piston forcibly in the front disc brake cylinder.

  5. INSTALL CYLINDER BOOT


    1. except 2-pot Caliper:

        *2 Cylinder Boot

        Install the cylinder boot to the front disc brake cylinder.

        Note

        Securely install the cylinder boot to the groove of the front disc brake cylinder and front disc brake piston.

        *1 Protective Tape

        Using a screwdriver, install a new front disc brake piston set ring.

        Note


        • Securely install the front disc brake piston set ring to the outer groove of the cylinder boot.

        • Do not damage the cylinder boot.

    2. for 2-pot Caliper:


      1. A01G97M

        Install the cylinder boot to the disc brake cylinder as shown in the illustration.

        Note


        • Securely install the cylinder boot into the groove of the cylinder and piston.

        • Do not damage the cylinder boot.
