FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.


  1. INSTALL FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01G6O8E02

      Engage the guide to temporarily install the front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly with the 2 bolts.

    2. Fully tighten the bolt <A> first, then the bolt <B> to install the front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly.

      Torque:
      42 N*m  { 428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf }

  2. INSPECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY (w/o Pre-crash Safety System)

      Component without harness connected

      (Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly)

      Check seat belt tension reducer operation.

      Note

      Do not apply battery voltage to the pretensioner connector.


      1. Connect a positive (+) lead of the battery to terminal 1 of the seat belt tension reducer connector and a negative (-) lead to terminal 2.

      2. Check that an operating sound is heard when the magnetized solenoid is attracting the plunger.

      3. Pull out the seat belt and allow it to retract. Listen to the operating sound.

      4. Pull out the seat belt again, disconnect the negative (-) lead of the battery and allow the seat belt to retract. Listen to the operating sound again and check that the operating sound volume has increased.


        • If the result is not as specified, replace the front seat outer belt assembly.

      Before installing the front seat outer belt assembly, check the ELR function.

      Note

      Do not disassemble the retractor.


      1. When the inclination of the retractor is 15° or less, check that the belt can be pulled from the retractor. When the inclination of the retractor is over 45°, check that the belt locks.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the outer belt assembly.

  3. INSPECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY (w/ Pre-crash Safety System)

      (Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly)

      Check seat belt tension reducer operation.

      Note

      Do not apply battery voltage to the pretensioner connector.


      1. Connect a positive (+) lead of the battery to terminal 1 of the seat belt tension reducer connector and a negative (-) lead to terminal 2.

      2. Check that an operating sound is heard when the magnetized solenoid is attracting the plunger.

      3. Pull out the seat belt and allow it to retract. Listen to the operating sound.

      4. Pull out the seat belt again, disconnect the negative (-) lead of the battery and allow the seat belt to retract. Listen to the operating sound again and check that the operating sound volume has increased.


        • If the result is not as specified, replace the front seat outer belt assembly.

      (Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly)

      Check the pre-crash seat belt.


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        1 - 2 Always Below 1 MΩ

        • If the result is not as specified, replace the front seat outer belt assembly.

      Before installing the front seat outer belt assembly, check the ELR function.

      Note

      Do not disassemble the retractor.


      1. When the inclination of the retractor is 15° or less, check that the belt can be pulled from the retractor. When the inclination of the retractor is over 45°, check that the belt locks.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the outer belt assembly.

  4. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY


    1. A01G4F0E01

      Install the bolt <A> first, then the bolt <B> to temporarily install the front seat outer belt assembly.

    2. Fully tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      Bolt <A>
      7.5 N*m  { 76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf }
      Bolt <B>
      42 N*m  { 428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf }

    3. w/o Pre-crash Safety System:


      1. Connect the connector.

    4. w/ Pre-crash Safety System:


      1. Connect the 2 connectors.

      Connect the pretensioner connector and lock the locking button as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Securely lock the locking button.

    6. Connect the shoulder anchor of the front seat outer belt assembly with the nut.

      Torque:
      42 N*m  { 428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL CENTER PILLAR UPPER GARNISH


    1. Pass the floor anchor of the front seat outer belt assembly LH through the center pillar upper garnish LH.

    2. Engage the clip.

    3. Install the center pillar upper garnish LH with the 2 screws.

  6. INSTALL CENTER PILLAR LOWER GARNISH


    1. Engage the 2 claws and 2 guides.

    2. Engage the 5 clips to install the center pillar lower garnish LH.

  7. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE


    1. Engage the 8 claws to install the rear door scuff plate LH.

  8. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE


    1. Engage the 10 claws to install the front door scuff plate LH.

  9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  10. CONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY


    1. Operate the power seat switch assembly and move the front seat assembly so that the nut for the anchor of the front seat outer belt assembly can be installed.

      Connect the anchor of the front seat outer belt assembly with the nut.

      Torque:
      42 N*m  { 428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • Install the front seat outer belt assembly with the arrow on the anchor part facing the front of the vehicle.

      • Do not allow the anchor part of the front seat outer belt assembly to overlap the protruding parts of the front seat assembly.

  11. INSTALL SEAT BELT ANCHOR COVER CAP


    1. A01G8M7

      Engage the 6 guides and install the seat belt anchor cover cap.

  12. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
