DESCRIPTION

When the windshield deicer switch is operated, the operation signal is transmitted to the multi-media module receiver assembly. The multi-media module receiver assembly transmits the operation signal to the air conditioning amplifier assembly via CAN communication. When the air conditioning amplifier assembly receives the signal, it turns on the DEICER relay to operate the windshield deicer.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note:

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

  • The windshield deicer system uses CAN communication. First, confirm that there are no malfunctions in the communication lines. Refer to How to Proceed with Troubleshooting (Click here).

  • If the auxiliary battery voltage becomes low, windshield deicer system operation is canceled to prioritize supplying power to the power steering system.

PROCEDURE


  1. Click here

    CHECK AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM


    1. Check that the air conditioning system can be operated using the remote touch.

      Tip:

      Both the windshield deicer system operation signal and air conditioning system operation signal are transmitted to the air conditioning amplifier assembly through same communication line.

      OK
      The air conditioning system operates normally.

  2. Click here

    PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the GTS.

    REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the air conditioning amplifier assembly with a new or known good one (Click here).

    2. Check that the windshield deicer system operates normally.

      The windshield deicer system operates normally.

      END (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE)

      REPLACE MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (Click here)

    INSPECT DEICER RELAY


    1. Inspect the deicer relay (Click here).


  5. Click here

    CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEICER RELAY - IG1 NO. 2 RELAY AND AUXILIARY BATTERY)

      Remove the deicer relay from the NO. 2 engine room relay block assembly.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Disconnect the H54 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Deicer relay holder terminal-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. Reconnect the H54 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.

    2. Reinstall the deicer relay.

      Remove the air conditioning amplifier assembly with its connectors still connected (Click here).

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Disconnect the A60 windshield glass (windshield deicer wire) connector.

    2. Remove the deicer relay from the NO. 2 engine room relay block assembly.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
