KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY(for Driver Side) REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Click here.

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE TRIM SERVICE HOLE COVER

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  4. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL

  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE

  6. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD

  7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER

  8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL

    for LHD Driver Side: Click here

  9. DISCONNECT HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  10. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL

  11. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

    CAUTION:

    When storing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.


    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Remove the 4 bolts.

    4. Disengage the 2 hooks to separate the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      Note

      When removing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

      Disengage the 2 claws to disconnect the DLC3.

    6. Disconnect the connector and disengage the clamp to remove the wire harness.

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock.

    8. Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  12. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

    CAUTION:

    When storing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.


    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Remove the 4 bolts.

    4. Disengage the 2 hooks to separate the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      Note

      When removing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

      Disengage the 2 claws to disconnect the DLC3.

    6. Disengage the 2 claws to disconnect the No. 1 interior illumination light assembly.

    7. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock.

    8. Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  13. REMOVE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING RESET SWITCH (for LHD)
