  1. REMOVE GENERATOR PULLEY CAP


    1. A01ITJP

      Using a screwdriver, puncture the center of the generator pulley cap and pry it off.

      Note

      Do not reuse the generator pulley cap.

  2. REMOVE GENERATOR WITH CLUTCH PULLEY


    1. Secure the generator drive end frame assembly and generator coil assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.

      Install SST (A) and (B) to the generator with clutch pulley as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Securely attach SST to the generator with clutch pulley and generator rotor shaft.

      A01ISM9 Turn

      Using a wrench to hold SST (A), turn SST (B) counterclockwise to loosen the generator with clutch pulley.

      Note


      • Check that the generator drive end frame assembly and generator coil assembly are secured in the vise tightly.

      • Hold SST (A) tightly during the operation.

    4. Remove SST (A) and (B) from the generator with clutch pulley.

    5. Remove the generator with clutch pulley from the generator rotor shaft.

    6. Remove the generator drive end frame assembly and generator coil assembly from the vise.

  3. REMOVE GENERATOR REAR END COVER


    1. A01IOB9

      Place the generator assembly on the generator with clutch pulley.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts and generator rear end cover from the generator coil assembly.

  4. REMOVE TERMINAL INSULATOR


    1. A01IT2Z

      Remove the terminal insulator from the generator coil assembly.

  5. REMOVE GENERATOR BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 screws and generator brush holder assembly from the generator coil assembly.

  6. REMOVE GENERATOR COIL ASSEMBLY


    1. A01INUP

      Remove the 4 through bolts from the generator drive end frame assembly.

      Using SST, remove the generator coil assembly.

  7. REMOVE BEARING COVER PACKING

      *1 Bearing Cover Packing

      Remove the bearing cover packing from the generator coil assembly.

      Note

      If the bearing cover packing breaks, remove all broken pieces.

      Tech Tips

      The bearing cover packing may be installed on the generator rotor assembly.

  8. REMOVE GENERATOR ROTOR ASSEMBLY

      Remove the generator rotor assembly.

      Note

      Do not drop the generator rotor assembly.

  9. INSPECT GENERATOR DRIVE END FRAME BEARING


    1. A01IOKR

      Check that the generator drive end frame bearing is not rough or worn and that it rotates smoothly.

      If the generator drive end frame bearing does not rotate smoothly, replace the generator drive end frame bearing.

  10. REMOVE RETAINER PLATE


    1. A01ISB9

      Remove the 4 screws and retainer plate from the generator drive end frame assembly.

  11. REMOVE GENERATOR DRIVE END FRAME BEARING


    1. A01IO6SE02

      Using SST and a hammer, tap out the generator drive end frame bearing from the generator drive end frame assembly.
