INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Note
When replacing the ECM, injector assembly and/or engine assembly, the ECM needs Registration and Initialization Click here.
Tech Tips
When the ECM must be replaced, before replacing the ECM, perform the "Learning Values Save" function using the GTS. Then after installing the new ECM, perform all of the initialization/registrations for the "Learning Values Write" function by following the instructions shown on the GTS display.
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (FUEL BALANCING COMPENSATION (FBC))
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.
Start the engine.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Fuel Balancing Compensation (FBC) / Data List / Cylinder 1 Quantity Compensation to Cylinder 4 Quantity Compensation.
Read the value.

Tech Tips
If a malfunction is found during this inspection, the fuel injector may be stuck open.
If a malfunction is not found in the fuel injector, the probable cause may be a loss of compression pressure, the formation of soot deposits in the intake system or an excessively high or low injection volume.

Replace the injector assembly Click here.
Tech Tips
Confirm which injector assemblies to replace using the quantity compensation values of cylinders 1 to 4.
If a value varies, replace the injector assembly of that cylinder.
If no values vary, replace all the injector assemblies.

Clear the DTCs Click here.
Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 60 seconds or more [A].
Perform road test [B].
Repeat [A] and [B] for the number of trips detected.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
