DESCRIPTION

The distance control switch is used to set the distance for vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode. The distance control switch is installed in the steering pad switch assembly. The vehicle-to-vehicle distance set value can be changed by operating the steering pad switch assembly (distance control switch) while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed in vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode.

INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Note:

The spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read the pages shown in the brackets.

    Tip:

    1. A0004R1E14

Remove the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z5-4 - H22-12 (DIST) Center 3 Ω or less
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      z5-7 - H22-2 (ECC) Center 3 Ω or less
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
    3. After setting the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly to the center position, rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly 2.5 times clockwise. Then while rotating the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly 5 times counterclockwise, measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z5-4 - H22-12 (DIST) Always 3 Ω or less
      z5-7 - H22-2 (ECC) Always 3 Ω or less
