P1631 Communication Error from HV ECU to Skid Control ECU

DESCRIPTION

The hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly sends signals such as dynamic radar cruise control operation signals and brake operation demand signals to the skid control ECU (brake booster with master cylinder assembly) when the dynamic radar cruise control is operating. The hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly is the only component that has a function to store and output DTCs in the dynamic radar cruise control system. Therefore, if the skid control ECU (brake booster with master cylinder assembly) detects a communication error from the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly, it sends a malfunction signal back to the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly.

P1631 While the vehicle speed is 40 km/h (or 25 mph) or more and the dynamic radar cruise control system is operating (vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode), if the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly continuously receives a logical error signal from the skid control ECU (brake booster with master cylinder assembly) for approximately 1 second or more.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM


    1. Using the GTS, check that the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

      OK
      CAN communication system is functioning normally.

  2. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY

  3. CHECK FOR DTCs (DTC P1631)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.

      Tech Tips

      If the detection conditions are not met, the system cannot detect the malfunction.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Radar Cruise1 / Trouble Codes.

    5. Check for DTCs Click here.
