FRONT DIFFERENTIAL OIL SEAL(for RH Side) REPLACEMENT

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the front drive shaft oil seal removal/installation are shown below.

Front wheel alignment adjustment

Perform the following procedures in the order shown:


  1. Clear zero point calibration data and store system information

  2. Perform yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration and store system information


  • VSC disabled or malfunctions

  • Slip indicator light illuminates

  • ABS warning light illuminates

    *a Heavy object exceeding the capacity of the transmission jack

    Because the continuously variable transaxle assembly is extremely heavy, make sure to follow the work procedures described in the repair manual.

  • If work is not performed according to the procedures described in the repair manual, there is a danger that the transmission jack could drop and components could fall down.

    When the engine is hot, do not touch high-temperature areas such as the engine or exhaust pipe.

  • Touching high-temperature areas such as the engine and exhaust pipe could result in burns.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE CVT TYPE T OIL SEAL


    1. A005PL9C04
      *a Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver with protective tape wound around the tip, pry out the CVT type T oil seal.

      Note

      Do not damage the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

  3. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL RH

    1. Using SST, remove the front drive shaft oil seal RH from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      Note

      Do not damage the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

  4. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL RH


    1. Coat the lip of a new front drive shaft oil seal RH with MP grease.

    2. A005PSVC04
      *a -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      Using SST and a hammer, install the front drive shaft oil seal RH to the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      09950-70010   ( 09951-07200 )
      Standard depth
      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      Note

      Make sure to install the front drive shaft oil seal RH as specified, otherwise malfunctions such as a fluid leak will occur.

  5. INSTALL CVT TYPE T OIL SEAL


    1. Coat the lip of a new CVT type T oil seal with MP grease.

    2. A005PVJC03
      *a 3.5 to 4.5 mm (0.138 to 0.177 in.)

      Using SST and a hammer, install the CVT type T oil seal to the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      Standard depth
      3.5 to 4.5 mm (0.138 to 0.177 in.)

      Note


      • Be sure to install the CVT type T oil seal in the correct direction.

      • Make sure to install the CVT type T oil seal as specified, otherwise malfunctions such as a fluid leak will occur.

      • Do not damage the lip of the CVT type T oil seal.
