FRONT DIFFERENTIAL OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the front differential oil seal removal/installation are shown below.

Front wheel alignment adjustment

Perform the following procedures in the order shown:


  1. Clear zero point calibration data and store system information

  2. Perform yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration and store system information


  • DTCs are stored

  • ABS warning light illuminates

  • Slip indicator light illuminates

  • VSC disabled or malfunctions

  1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  2. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

  3. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

  4. DRAIN CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE FLUID


    1. A001X15

      Remove the refill plug and gasket from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

    2. A001X5M

      Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the overflow plug and gasket from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

    3. A001WMHC01
      *1 No. 1 Transmission Oil Filler Tube

      Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube from the transaxle oil (CVT) pan sub-assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Removing the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube will drain all oil in the transaxle oil (CVT) pan sub-assembly.

    4. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube to the transaxle oil (CVT) pan sub-assembly.

      Torque:
      1.7 N*m  { 17 kgf*cm, 15 in.*lbf }
    5. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, temporarily install the overflow plug and gasket to the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Reuse the old gasket as the overflow plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

    6. Temporarily install the gasket and refill plug to the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

  7. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL LH

      Using SST, remove the front drive shaft oil seal LH from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      Note

      Do not damage the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

  8. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL RH

      Using SST, remove the front drive shaft oil seal RH from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      Do not damage the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

  9. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL LH


    1. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new front drive shaft oil seal LH.

    2. A001UPCN01

      Using SST and a hammer, install the front drive shaft oil seal LH to the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      Note


      • Be sure to install the front drive shaft oil seal LH in the correct direction.

      • Make sure to install the front drive shaft oil seal LH as specified, otherwise malfunctions such as a fluid leak will occur.

      • Do not damage the lip of the front drive shaft oil seal LH.

  10. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL RH


    1. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new front drive shaft oil seal RH.

    2. A001XFAN04

      Using SST and a hammer, install the front drive shaft oil seal RH to the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      Note


      • Be sure to install the front drive shaft oil seal RH in the correct direction.
