| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| P1586 | Acceleration Sensor Malfunction |
DESCRIPTION
The ECM determines the vehicle inclination based on a signal from the airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate and acceleration sensor). If a malfunction of the airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate and acceleration sensor) is determined based on a malfunction signal from the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly), the ECM stores this DTC.
Tech Tips
The airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate and acceleration sensor) signal is sent to the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) via CAN communication.
If CAN communication DTCs are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.
| DTC No. | Detection Item | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area | MIL | Memory |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P1586 | Acceleration Sensor Malfunction | After the ignition switch is turned ON, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) has detected either one of the following conditions, and the ECM has received a diagnostic signal from the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) for 3 seconds or more (1 trip detection logic).

| Diagnostic Condition | The ignition switch is ON. | ○ | ○ |
| Malfunction Condition | At a vehicle speed 30 km/h (19 mph) or more, the difference between longitudinal G calculated based on the airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate and acceleration sensor) (G sensor) value and longitudinal G calculated based on the vehicle speed exceeds 0.35 G for 60 seconds or more. | ○ | - |
| The airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate and acceleration sensor) signal does not change 16 times or more while the vehicle speed decreases from 30 km/h (19 mph) to 0 km/h (0 mph). | - | ○ | |
| Duration | 3 seconds or more | 3 seconds or more | |
| Detection Logic | 1 trip detection logic | 1 trip detection logic | |
Tech Tips
This DTC is output when either of the above detection patterns is met.
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Note
Perform initialization after replacing any parts related to the continuously variable transaxle system.
Check that no DTCs are stored after performing initialization.
Tech Tips
After performing repair, clear the DTCs and perform the following procedure to check that DTCs are not output.
Drive the vehicle at 30 km/h (19 mph) or more for 60 seconds or more.
While driving at 30 km/h (19 mph), depress the brake pedal 16 times or more until the vehicle is stopped.
Check for DTCs again.
PROCEDURE
CHECK DTC OUTPUT
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Check for DTCs.

CHECK DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P1586)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the GTS on.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Clear the DTCs.
Perform a road test where the vehicle is driven at 30 km/h (18 mph) or more, the brakes are applied at least 16 times and the vehicle is finally stopped.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Read the DTCs using the GTS.
Tech Tips
If any DTCs other than P1586 are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.
