Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY
Tech Tips
When the starter assembly is replaced, starter relay assembly must be also replaced.
Disconnect the starter assembly connector.
Disengage the clamp and remove the terminal cap protector from the terminal cap.
Open the terminal cap.
Remove the nut to disconnect the wire harness from terminal 30.
Remove the 2 bolts and starter assembly from the cylinder block sub-assembly.
Note
After the starter assembly is replaced, be sure to clear the number of starter operations stored in the engine stop and start ECU.
