PROCEDURE
INSPECT THERMOSTAT (for Cylinder Block)
Tech Tips
The valve opening temperature is inscribed on the thermostat (for Cylinder Block).
Immerse the thermostat (for Cylinder Block) in water, and then gradually heat the water.
Check that the valve of the thermostat (for Cylinder Block) opens at the specified temperature.
Standard Valve Opening Temperature
---
76 to 80°C (169 to 176°F)
If the result is not as specified, replace the thermostat (for Cylinder Block).
| *a | Valve Lift |
Check the valve lift.
Standard Valve Lift
---
8.0 mm (0.315 in.) or more at 91°C (196°F)
If the result is not as specified, replace the thermostat (for Cylinder Block).
Check that the valve is fully closed when the thermostat (for Cylinder Block) is at low temperature (below 73°C (163°F)).
If it is not fully closed, replace the thermostat (for Cylinder Block).
