WATER PUMP INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL ENGINE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY


    1. Install a new water pump gasket to the engine water pump assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Be sure to clean the contact surfaces.

    2. Apply adhesive 1324 to the threads of the bolt (C).

      Bolt Length
      Item Length
      Bolt (A) and (D) 20 mm (0.787 in.)
      Bolt (B) and (C) 35 mm (1.38 in.)
    3. A001XCLN02

      Temporarily install the engine water pump assembly to the timing chain cover assembly with the 6 bolts.

      Note

      Tighten the bolts within 3 minutes of applying adhesive.

    4. A001SDDC03
      *a 12 mm Union Nut Wrench
      *b Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length

      Using a 12 mm union nut wrench, tighten the bolt (A).

      Torque:
      Specified tightening torque
      21 N*m  { 214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips


      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

      • When using a 12 mm union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 20 mm (0.787 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 162 mm (6.38 in.)): 18.7 N*m (191 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf)

    5. Tighten the bolt (B), bolt (C) and bolt (D).

      Torque:
      21 N*m  { 214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY

  3. INSTALL GENERATOR ASSEMBLY


  4. ADD ENGINE COOLANT

  5. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK

  6. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
