EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during exhaust manifold removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  2. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE


    1. A001WDL

      Remove the 12 bolts and 3 front floor center braces from the vehicle body.

  3. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst)

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.


    1. A001VLC

      Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.

    2. Disengage the wire harness clamp.

    3. A001T22

      Remove the 4 bolts and 4 compression springs and disconnect the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) from the exhaust manifold and tail exhaust pipe assembly.

    4. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) from the 2 exhaust pipe supports.

    5. Remove the 2 exhaust pipe gaskets from the exhaust manifold and front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst).

  4. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.


    1. A001X9J

      Disengage the 3 clamps.

    2. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

    3. A001WJB

      Remove the 4 bolts and No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold.

  6. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.


    1. A001VKH

      Remove the 3 bolts and manifold stay from the exhaust manifold, drive shaft bearing case sub-assembly and cylinder block sub-assembly.

  7. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.


    1. A001UCK

      Remove the 5 nuts and exhaust manifold from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.


    1. A001SPL

      Remove the 4 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold.
