MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

  1. INSPECT VACUUM SENSOR ASSEMBLY (MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR)

    1. A001XN7C84
      *a

Front view of wire harness connector

(to Vacuum Sensor Assembly (Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor))

      Check the terminal voltage.

      1. Disconnect the vacuum sensor assembly (manifold absolute pressure sensor) connector from the vacuum sensor assembly (manifold absolute pressure sensor).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        C2-3 (VC) - C2-1 (E2) Ignition switch ON 4.75 to 5.25 V
        C2-2 (PIM) - C2-1 (E2) Ignition switch ON 3.0 to 5.25 V

If the result is not as specified, there may be an open or short in the VC or E2 circuit.

    2. Check the intake manifold pressure.

      1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the GTS on.

      4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / All Data / MAP.

Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Data List
        Tester Display
        MAP
      5. Read the values displayed on the GTS.

        OK
        Equivalent to atmospheric pressure.

        Tech Tips

        • Standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa(abs) [758 mmHg(abs)].

        • For every 100 m (328 ft.) increase in altitude, pressure drops by 1 kPa (7.5 mmHg). This varies by weather.

      6. While applying a vacuum of 67 kPa(abs) [503 mmHg(abs)] to the vacuum sensor assembly (manifold absolute pressure sensor) using a vacuum pump, measure the intake manifold pressure.

        OK
        23 to 38 kPa(abs) [173 to 285 mmHg(abs)]

        Tech Tips

If the result is not as specified, replace the vacuum sensor assembly (manifold absolute pressure sensor).
