      *1 Transfer Filler Plug
      *2 Transfer Drain Plug

      Using a 10 mm straight hexagon wrench and 10 x 12 mm long offset wrench, remove the transfer filler plug and gasket.

    3. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the transfer drain plug and gasket and drain the transfer oil.

    4. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, install a new gasket and the drain plug.

      Torque:
      39 N*m  { 398 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf }
  2. ADD TRANSFER OIL

    1. Using a 10 mm straight hexagon wrench and 10 x 12 mm long offset wrench, remove the transfer filler plug and gasket.

    2. Add transfer oil.

      Oil grade
      Toyota Genuine Differential gear oil LT SAE 75W-85 API GL-5 or equivalent
      Viscosity
      SAE 75W-85
    3. A001UD4C01
      *a 0 to 5.0 mm (0 to 0.196 in.)

      Pour oil so that the oil level is between 0 to 5.0 mm (0 to 0.196 in.) from the bottom lip of the transfer filler plug hole.

      Note

      • When adding oil, pour it slowly.

      • Add oil a little at a time, waiting several minutes between each addition of oil.

      • Too much or too little oil will lead to transfer problems.

      Standard Capacity
      0.40 to 0.50 liters (0.43 to 0.52 US qts, 0.36 to 0.44 Imp. qts)
    4. Wait approximately 5 minutes and check that the oil level has not changed.

      *a 10 mm Straight Hexagon Wrench
      *b 12 mm Hexagon Socket Wrench
      *c 10 x 12 mm Long Offset Wrench
      *d Fulcrum Length

      Using a 10 mm straight hexagon wrench, 12 mm hexagon socket wrench and 10 x 12 mm long offset wrench, install a new gasket into the transfer filler plug and then install the transfer filler plug.

      Torque:
      Specified tightening torque
      39 N*m  { 398 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      After adding oil, drive the vehicle and recheck the oil level Click here.

      Tech Tips

      • This torque value is effective when offset wrench is straight to a torque wrench.

      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

      • When using a long offset wrench (fulcrum length of 189.75 mm (7.47 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 255 mm (10.04 in.)): 22.4 N*m (228 kgf*cm, 17 ft.*lbf)
