LIGHTING SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM

    1. When the light control switch is in the AUTO position, the automatic light control system detects ambient light levels and controls the low beam headlights, clearance lights, taillights and license plate lights.

  2. LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM (except Driver Door-linked Light Auto Turn-off System)

    1. The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the exterior lights (low beam headlights, high beam headlights, front fog lights, rear fog light*, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights) from being accidentally left on.

    2. The lights that will turn off will vary according to the position of the light control switch as shown in the table below.

      Switch Condition Outline
Light control switch in AUTO position

The exterior lights are automatically turned off when any of the following conditions are met:

      • The power switch is turned off when the exterior lights are on and the vehicle speed is less than 10 km/h (6 mph).

      • The driver door is opened after the power switch is turned off when the exterior lights are on.

Light control switch in tail or head position

The low beam headlights and the high beam headlights are automatically turned off when any of the following conditions are met:

      • The power switch is turned off when the exterior lights are on and the vehicle speed is less than 10 km/h (6 mph).

      • The driver door is opened after the power switch is turned off when the exterior lights are on.

      Tech Tips

The taillights, clearance lights, license plate lights and rear fog light* will remain on.

      • *: w/ Rear Fog Light

  3. LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM (for Driver Door-linked Light Auto Turn-off System)

    1. The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the exterior lights (low beam headlights, high beam headlights, front fog lights, rear fog light*, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights) from being accidentally left on.

    2. When all of the following conditions are met, the headlights, front fog lights, rear fog light*, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights turn off:

      • The power switch is turned from on (IG) to off.

      • The headlights, front fog lights, rear fog light*, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights are on.

      • The driver door is opened.

      • *: w/ Rear Fog Light

  4. LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM (w/ Delay Function)

    1. The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the exterior lights (low beam headlights, high beam headlights, front fog lights, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights) from being accidentally left on.

      • This system has the following functions.

      Function Outline
      Delay Function

The exterior lights automatically turn off after 30 seconds when all of the following conditions are met:

      • The power switch is turned from on (IG) to off.

      • The low beam headlights are on.

      • All doors are closed after any of the doors are opened.

      Door Control Transmitter-linked Function

The exterior lights turn off immediately when the delay function is active and the following condition is met:

      • The lock button on the key is pushed after all doors are locked.

      Door Open-linked

The exterior lights automatically turn off immediately when all of the following conditions are met:

      • The power switch is turned from on (IG) to off.

      • The taillights are on. (The low beam headlights are off.)

      • The driver door is opened.

  5. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM

    1. The daytime running light system is designed to automatically illuminate the daytime running lights, during the daytime to make the vehicle more visible to other vehicles.

      • This system is controlled by the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

      • This system is enabled when the following conditions are met:

        • The power switch is on (READY).

        • The light control switch is in the off* or AUTO position (and the taillight are not turned on by the automatic light control system).

        • The parking brake switch is off.

          • *: w/ Light Control Switch off Position

  6. FOLLOW ME HOME SYSTEM (w/ Follow Me Home System)

    1. The follow me home system is designed to illuminate the low beam headlights for approximately 30 seconds after the vehicle is parked.

      1. This system is controlled by the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

      2. This system is enabled when the following conditions are met:

        • The power switch is off.

        • The light control switch is in the off* or AUTO position.

        • The light control switch is pulled to flash the headlights once.

          • *: w/ Light Control Switch off Position

  7. LANE CHANGE FLASHER CONTROL

    1. This control is performed by the combination meter assembly (meter circuit plate).

    2. When the headlight dimmer switch assembly (turn signal switch) is moved to the lane change position (it is not necessary to hold the switch) during a lane change, the turn signal light flashes a specified number of times.

    3. While the turn signal lights are flashing after the headlight dimmer switch assembly (turn signal switch) has been moved to the lane change position, the turn signal light turns off if the headlight dimmer switch assembly (turn signal switch) is moved in the opposite direction.
