BACK DOOR GLASS REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE BACK DOOR UPPER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT SET

    Click here

  3. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect each connector and disengage each clamp.

    2. A003NGOC01
      B006IOI Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape to the area around the installation position of the back door glass sub-assembly on the back door panel to prevent it from being scratched.

    3. B006IAQC01
      *a Matchmark

      Place matchmarks on the back door glass sub-assembly and back door panel at the locations indicated in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Matchmarks are not necessary if the back door glass is not going to be reused.

    4. A003NUEC01
      *1 No. 1 Back Window Glass Spacer
      *2 No. 2 Back Window Glass Spacer
      *a Piano Wire

      Pass a piano wire between the back door panel and back door glass sub-assembly from the interior.

    5. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handles.

    6. Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back door glass sub-assembly.

      Note


      • When separating the back door glass sub-assembly, take care not to damage the paint or interior and exterior ornaments.

      • When cutting the adhesive, take care not to damage the connectors on the back door glass sub-assembly.

      • Do not pull the piano wire in a vertical direction, but pull it in a horizontal direction.

    7. A003ML0

      Using suction cups, disengage the No. 1 back window glass spacer and No. 2 back window glass spacer and remove the back door glass sub-assembly.

      Note


      • To prevent the back door glass sub-assembly from falling when performing this operation, be sure to hold the back door glass sub-assembly using suction cups.

      • Be careful not to drop the back door glass sub-assembly.

      • Leave as much adhesive on the back door panel as possible when removing the back door glass sub-assembly.

  4. REMOVE UPPER BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING RH


    1. When reusing the back door glass:


      1. A003O2NC01
        *A Back Side

        Using a scraper, remove the upper back window outside moulding RH.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back door glass.

        • Be sure to replace the upper back window outside moulding RH with a new one.

  5. REMOVE UPPER BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING LH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER


    1. When reusing the back door glass:


      1. A003KK7C01
        *A Back Side

        Using a scraper, remove the No. 1 back window glass spacer.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back door glass.

        • Be sure to replace the No. 1 back window glass spacer with a new one.

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the No. 1 back window glass spacer.

  8. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS ADHESIVE DAM


    1. When reusing the back door glass:


      1. A003NJNC01
        *A Back Side

        Using a scraper, remove the back door glass adhesive dam.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back door glass.

        • Be sure to replace the back door glass adhesive dam with a new one.

  9. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS SPACER


    1. When reusing the back door glass:


      1. A003K86C01
        *A Back Side

        Using a scraper, remove the back door glass spacer.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back door glass.

        • Be sure to replace the back door glass spacer with a new one.

  10. REMOVE NO. 2 BACK DOOR GLASS ADHESIVE DAM


    1. When reusing the back door glass:


      1. A003JXJC01
        *A Back Side

        Using a scraper, remove the No. 2 back door glass adhesive dam.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back door glass.

        • Be sure to replace the No. 2 back door glass adhesive dam with a new one.

  11. CLEAN BACK DOOR GLASS


    1. When reusing the back door glass:


      1. A003KSV

        Using a scraper, remove any remaining adhesive residue from the back door glass.

        Note

        Be careful not to damage the back door glass.

      2. Clean the outer circumference of the back door glass with a non-residue solvent.

        Note


        • Do not touch the back door glass surface after cleaning it.

        • Even if using a new back door glass, clean it with a non-residue solvent.

  12. REMOVE REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH

  13. REMOVE REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  14. REMOVE BACK WINDOW FIX GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect each connector.

    2. A003O3VC01
      B006IOI Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape to the area around the installation position of the back window fix glass sub-assembly on the back door panel to prevent it from being scratched.

      *a Matchmark

      Place matchmarks on the back window fix glass sub-assembly and back door panel at the locations indicated in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Matchmarks are not necessary if the back window fix glass is not going to be reused.

    4. A003L75C01
      *1 No. 3 Back Window Glass Spacer
      *2 No. 4 Back Window Glass Spacer
      *a Piano Wire

      Pass a piano wire between the back door panel and back window fix glass sub-assembly from the interior.

    6. Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back window fix glass sub-assembly.

      Using suction cups, disengage the No. 3 back window glass spacer and No. 4 back window glass spacer and remove the back window fix glass sub-assembly.

      Note


      • To prevent the back window fix glass sub-assembly from falling when performing this operation, be sure to hold the back window fix glass sub-assembly using suction cups.

      • Be careful not to drop the back window fix glass sub-assembly.

      • Leave as much adhesive on the back door panel as possible when removing the back window fix glass sub-assembly.

  15. REMOVE LOWER BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING RH


    1. When reusing the back window fix glass:


      1. A003P3MC01
        *A Back Side

        Using a scraper, remove the lower back window outside moulding RH.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back window fix glass.

        • Be sure to replace the lower back window outside moulding RH with a new one.

  16. REMOVE LOWER BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING LH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  17. REMOVE NO. 3 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER


    1. When reusing the back window fix glass:


      1. A003MGHC01
        *A Back Side

        Using a scraper, remove the No. 3 back window glass spacer.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back window fix glass.

        • Be sure to replace the No. 3 back window glass spacer with a new one.

  18. REMOVE NO. 4 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the No. 3 back window glass spacer.

  19. REMOVE QUARTER WINDOW GLASS SPACER


    1. When reusing the back window fix glass:


      1. A003MMRC01
        *A Back Side

        Using a scraper, remove the 2 quarter window glass spacers.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back window fix glass.

        • Be sure to replace the 2 quarter window glass spacers with new ones.

  20. REMOVE NO. 2 QUARTER WINDOW GLASS SPACER


    1. When reusing the back window fix glass:


      1. A003LY2C01
        *A Back Side

        Using a scraper, remove the 3 No. 2 quarter window glass spacers.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back window fix glass.

        • Be sure to replace the No. 2 quarter window glass spacer with a new one.

  21. CLEAN BACK WINDOW FIX GLASS


    1. When reusing the back window fix glass:


      1. A003KSV

        Using a scraper, remove any remaining adhesive residue from the back window fix glass.

        Note

        Be careful not to damage the back window fix glass.

      2. Clean the outer circumference of the back window fix glass with a non-residue solvent.

        Note


        • Do not touch the back window fix glass surface after cleaning it.

        • Even if using a new back window fix glass, clean it with a non-residue solvent.

  22. CLEAN BACK DOOR PANEL


    1. Clean and shape the contact surfaces of the back door panel.

        *a Back Door Panel
        B006IOI Adhesive

        Using a knife, cut off any excess adhesive on the contact surfaces of the back door panel as shown in the illustration.

        Standard Dimension
        Area Dimension
        a 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) or more

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back door panel.

        Tech Tips

        Leave as much adhesive on the back door panel as possible.

      2. Clean the contact surfaces of the back door panel with a piece of cloth saturated with non-residue solvent.

        Tech Tips

        Even if all of the adhesive has been removed, clean the back door panel.
