ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM VSC does not Operate or VSC does not Operate Correctly

DESCRIPTION

When ABS, TRC or VSC is operating, the skid control ECU (brake booster with master cylinder assembly) blinks the slip indicator light to inform the driver that slippage occurred.

When a communication malfunction with the hybrid vehicle control ECU is detected, TRC and VSC are disabled. Also, TRC and VSC are disabled when a DTC is stored.

PROCEDURE

  1. BRAKE PROBLEM CHECK

    1. Check whether the slip indicator light was illuminated when VSC did not operate.

      OK
The slip indicator light was illuminated.

      Tech Tips

When a DTC is stored, the slip indicator light is illuminated and VSC does not operate due to the fail-safe function.

    2. Check whether the vehicle speed was 15 km/h (9 mph) or less when VSC did not operate.

      OK
The vehicle speed was 15 km/h (9 mph) or less.

      Tech Tips

VSC does not operate when the vehicle speed is 15 km/h (9 mph) or less.

    3. Check whether the vehicle was driven straight for a few seconds at 35 km/h (22 mph) or more.

      OK
The vehicle was not driven straight for a few seconds at 35 km/h (22 mph) or more.

      Tech Tips

When the power switch is turned on (IG), as steering angle sensor zero point calibration is not performed below 35 km/h (22 mph), VSC will not operate until the vehicle is driven straight for a few seconds at 35 km/h (22 mph) or more.
