Tech Tips

Perform these procedures after the engine has cooled down.


  1. INSPECT ENGINE OIL


    1. Check the engine oil.

  2. REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER


    1. Replace the engine oil and oil filter.

  3. INSPECT COOLING AND HEATER SYSTEM


    1. Check that the radiator and condenser are not blocked with leaves, dirt or insects, and clean them if necessary. Also check the hose connection for the installation condition, corrosion, etc.

  4. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT


    1. Check the engine coolant.

  5. REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT


    1. Replace the engine coolant.

  6. INSPECT SPARK PLUGS


    1. Check the spark plugs.

  7. INSPECT AUXILIARY BATTERY


    1. Check the auxiliary battery.

  8. INSPECT AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT


    1. Remove the air cleaner filter element.

      Check that the air cleaner filter element is not excessively dirty.

      If the air cleaner filter element is excessively dirty, replace the air cleaner filter element.

    3. If cleaning the air cleaner filter element, blow compressed air as shown in the illustration to clean it.

    4. Reinstall the air cleaner filter element.

  9. INSPECT EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS


    1. Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks or damage.

  10. INSPECT FUEL TANK CAP GASKET


    1. Check the fuel tank cap gasket.

  11. INSPECT FUEL LINES, CONNECTIONS, AND FUEL TANK VAPOR VENT SYSTEM HOSES


    1. Visually check the fuel lines and hoses for cracks, leaks, loose connections, or deformation.

  12. INSPECT CHARCOAL CANISTER


    1. Check the charcoal canister.
