Tech Tips

The oil pump with motor assembly cannot be activated only with the OIL PMP relay on. It is activated after receiving the command signals (OPM1) from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

After repair has been completed, clear the DTC and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.

  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

  4. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / T/M Cooler Oil Pump.

  6. According to the display on the GTS, perform the Active Test and set the duty to 90 %.

    Tech Tips

    The Active Test cannot be performed if the duty ratio is set to 50 % or lower or 95 % or higher, or if the ambient temperature is -10 °C (14 °F) or lower.

  7. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List and check that the value of "Motor/Generator Cooling Oil Pump Motor Revolution" is between 500 rpm and 7000 rpm.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (L TERMINAL VOLTAGE)


    1. B006ITXN02

      Disconnect the A30 oil pump with motor assembly connector.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A30-4 (L) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V

      Note

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump with motor assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.

    5. Reconnect the A30 oil pump with motor assembly connector.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OIL PUMP WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY - OIL PMP RELAY)


    1. Disconnect the A30 oil pump with motor assembly connector.

    2. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the No. 2 relay block assembly.

    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Note


      • Do not apply excessive force when using the probes of the tester to perform the inspection. If excessive force is used, the terminals will be damaged.

      • Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump with motor assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    6. Install the OIL PMP relay.

    7. Reconnect the A30 oil pump with motor assembly connector.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - OIL PMP RELAY)


    1. Disconnect the A41 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    2. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the No. 2 relay block assembly.

    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
