QUARTER WINDOW GLASS INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH side.

  • The procedure described below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL UPPER QUARTER WINDOW MOULDING

  2. CLEAN QUARTER WINDOW ASSEMBLY


    1. Clean the outer circumference of the quarter glass assembly with a non-residue solvent.

      Note

      Even if using a new quarter glass assembly, clean the quarter glass assembly with a non-residue solvent.

  3. INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW ASSEMBLY

      *a Adhesive

      Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.


      1. On the contact surface of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.

        Note

        Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

      2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.

    2. Install the suction cups to the quarter window assembly.

    3. Apply Primer M to the exposed part of the vehicle body.

      Note


      • Do not apply too much Primer M.

      • Do not coat the adhesive with primer M.

      • Be careful when applying primer to the panel joints and spot welds.

    4. Using a brush or sponge, coat the application area of adhesive with primer G as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not apply too much Primer M.

      *2 Nozzle

      Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.

      a 12.0 mm (0.472 in.) or more
      b 8.0 mm (0.315 in.) or more

    6. Load the sealer gun with the cartridge.

    7. Apply a bead of adhesive to the location shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Apply the adhesive after Primer G has been allowed to dry (approx. 3 min.).

    8. Install the quarter window assembly.

        B000ZUW Protective Tape

        Using suction cups, engage the clips to install new quarter window assembly.

        Note

        Install the quarter window assembly after Primer M on the vehicle body has been allowed to dry (approx. 3 min).

      2. Lightly press the front surface of the quarter glass assembly to ensure that the windshield glass is securely fit to the vehicle body.

        Tech Tips

        Press the glass with force of 98 N (10 kgf, 22.0 lbf) or more.

      3. Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

        Note

        Apply adhesive to the quarter glass assembly rim.

      4. Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

      5. Hold the quarter window assembly in place securely with protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.

        Tech Tips

        Follow the instructions for each adhesive manufacturer or the corresponding owner's manual for the minimum amount of time necessary prior to driving the vehicle.

  4. INSPECT FOR LEAK AND REPAIR


    1. After the adhesive has hardened, apply water from the outside of the vehicle. Check that no water leaks into the cabin.

    2. If water leaks into the cabin, allow the water to dry and add adhesive.

    3. Remove the protective tape.
