WINDSHIELD DEICER SYSTEM Windshield Deicer does not Operate

DESCRIPTION

The integration control and panel assembly transmits the operation signal to the air conditioning amplifier assembly via the CAN communication line.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following procedure.

  • If the auxiliary battery voltage is low, the windshield deicer system may not operate. Refer to Data List for the power steering system.

  • The power window control system uses the CAN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting. Troubleshoot the power window control system after confirming that the communication system is functioning properly.

  1. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM


    1. Check the air conditioning system.

      Both the window deicer system operation signal and air conditioning system operation signal are transmitted to the air conditioning amplifier assembly via the same communication line.

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (DEICER RELAY (FRONT))


    1. Using the GTS, perform the Active Test.

    1. Replace the air conditioning amplifier assembly with a new or normally functioning one.

  4. INSPECT FR WIPER DEICER RELAY (DEICER RELAY)


    1. Remove the front wiper deicer relay (DEICER RELAY) from the No. 3 motor compartment relay block.

    2. Inspect the front wiper deicer relay (DEICER RELAY).

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT WIPER DEICER RELAY (DEICER RELAY) - BATTERY)

      Remove the front wiper deicer relay from the No. 3 motor compartment relay block.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT WIPER DEICER RELAY (DEICER RELAY) - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the A64 windshield glass (windshield deicer wire) connector.

    2. Disconnect the G43 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.

    3. Remove the front wiper deicer relay from the No. 3 motor compartment relay block.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Front wiper deicer relay (DEICER RELAY) terminal 2 - G43-36 (FDEF) Always Below 1 Ω
      Front wiper deicer relay (DEICER RELAY) terminal 2 or G43-36 (FDEF) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  7. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY


    1. Reinstall the defogger relay.

    2. Reconnect the G43 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.

    3. Remove the air conditioning amplifier assembly with the connectors still connected.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD GLASS (WINDSHIELD DEICER WIRE) - FRONT WIPER DEICER RELAY (DEICER RELAY) AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the A64 windshield glass (windshield deicer relay) connector.

    2. Remove the front wiper deicer relay (DEICER RELAY) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
