BACK WINDOW GLASS REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE NO. 1 AMPLIFIER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT SET

  4. REMOVE REAR SEAT SHOULDER BELT COVER

    Click here

  5. DISCONNECT REAR SEAT 3 POINT TYPE OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH

  6. DISCONNECT REAR SEAT 3 POINT TYPE OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  7. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY

  13. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS

    Note

    The back door glass may fall while performing this procedure. Therefore, use suction cups to hold the back window glass from the outside of the vehicle.

      *a Protective Tape

      Place protective tape on the main surface of the luggage compartment door hinge cover for the back window glass.

    2. A01MG41C02
      B000ZUW Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape to the area around the installation position of the back window glass sub-assembly on the vehicle body to prevent it from being scratched.

    3. Disconnect the connectors.

      *1 Back Window Glass
      *2 Back Window Moulding Outside
      *a Vehicle Body
      *b Cut

      Using a knife, cut off the back window outside moulding as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Be careful not to damage or scratch the back window glass or vehicle body.

      • If the body panel is scratched, perform antirust treatment after removing the back window glass.

      *a Matchmark
      B000ZUW Protective Tape

      When reusing the windshield glass:


      • Place matchmarks on the windshield glass sub-assembly and vehicle body at the locations indicated in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Matchmarks are not necessary if the windshield glass sub-assembly is not going to be reused.

    6. Install the suction cups to the windshield glass.

      *1 Back Window Glass Stopper
      *2 Connector
      *a Piano Wire

      Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and windshield glass sub-assembly from the interior.

    8. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handles.

    9. Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the windshield glass sub-assembly.

    10. Using suction cups, disengage the back window glass stoppers to remove the back window glass sub-assembly.

      Note

      Make sure that the back door glass does not fall.

      Note

      The No. 1 windshield glass stoppers and No. 2 windshield glass stoppers are installed to the windshield glass sub-assembly as shown in the illustration. Be careful not to damage the windshield glass sub-assembly when cutting off the adhesive.

  14. REMOVE BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING

    1. When reusing the back window glass:


      1. Using a scraper, remove the back window outside moulding.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the back window outside moulding with a new one.

  15. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM

    1. When reusing the back window glass:


      1. Using a scraper, remove the back window glass adhesive dam.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the back window glass adhesive dam with a new one.

  16. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER (for 1-piece Type)

    1. When reusing the back window glass:


      1. Using a scraper, remove the 2 No. 1 back window glass stoppers from the back side of the back window glass.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the 1-piece type No. 1 back window glass stoppers with new 2-piece type No. 1 and No. 2 back window glass stoppers.

  17. REMOVE NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER (for 2-piece Type)

    1. When reusing the back window glass:


      1. Using a scraper, remove the 2 No. 2 back window glass stoppers from the back side of the back window glass.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the No. 2 back window glass stoppers with new ones.

  18. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER (for 2-piece Type)

    1. Remove the 2 No. 1 back window glass stoppers from the vehicle body.

      Note

      Be sure to replace the No. 1 back window glass stoppers with new ones.
