SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Warning Light Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The occupant detection sensor detects if the passenger seat is occupied and sends signals to the combination meter assembly. The front seat inner belt assembly (for Front Passenger Side) detects the passenger seat belt condition and sends signals to the combination meter assembly. After receiving the signals from the occupant detection sensor and front seat inner belt assembly (for Front Passenger Side), the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly will blink or go off.

Note


  • The seat belt warning system uses the CAN communication system. First, confirm that there are no malfunctions in the CAN communication system. Refer to the How to Proceed with Troubleshooting procedure.

  • When replacing the combination meter assembly, make sure to replace it with a new one.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (P-Seatbelt Buckle SW)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

      P-Seatbelt Buckle SW Front passenger seat belt buckle switch signal ON or OFF

      OFF: Front passenger seat belt fastened

      ON: Front passenger seat belt not fastened

      Perform the inspection while sitting in the front passenger side seat.

      The GTS display changes correctly in response to the front passenger seat belt and front passenger seat condition.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY [for Front Passenger Side] - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the Q43 (for LHD) or P20 (for RHD) front seat inner belt assembly (for Front Passenger Side) connector.

    2. Disconnect the G13 combination meter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      for LHD

      Q43-3 (+) - G13-14 (PBKL) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q43-3 (+) or G13-14 (PBKL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q43-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      for RHD

      P20-3 (+) - G13-14 (PBKL) Always Below 1 Ω
      P20-3 (+) or G13-14 (PBKL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
