LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Rain Sensor LIN Communication Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

A malfunction occurs in LIN communication of the components related to the rain sensor between the rain sensor and windshield wiper relay assembly.

Note


  • When using the GTS with the power switch off to troubleshoot:

    Connect the GTS to the vehicle, and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at 1.5 second intervals until communication between the GTS and vehicle begins.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY - RAIN SENSOR)


    1. Disconnect the G32 windshield wiper relay assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the W10 rain sensor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G32-14 (MPX1) - W10-1 (MPX) Always Below 1 Ω
      G32-14 (MPX1) or W10-1 (MPX)- Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY - POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)

    1. Disconnect the windshield wiper relay assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G32-12 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G32-2 (IG) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

  3. REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY


    1. Temporarily replace the windshield wiper relay assembly with a new or normally functioning one.
