WINDOW DEFOGGER SYSTEM Rear Window Defogger System does not Operate

DESCRIPTION

When the defogger switch on the air conditioning control assembly is pressed, the operation signal is transmitted to the air conditioning amplifier assembly via LIN communication. When the air conditioning amplifier assembly receives the signal, it turns on the DEFOGGER relay to operate the window defogger system.

  • The window defogger system uses the LIN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting. Troubleshoot the window defogger system after confirming that the communication system is functioning properly.

  1. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM


    1. Check the air conditioning system.

  2. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY


    1. Check that the defogger indicator illuminates when the defogger switch is on.

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS


    1. Using the GTS, perform the Active Test.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Remove the DEFOGGER relay from the No. 6 instrument panel relay block assembly.

    2. Disconnect the G33 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.

    3. Disconnect the N8 back window glass (defogger wire) connector.

    4. Disconnect the K3*1 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.

    5. Disconnect the J3*1 outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.

    6. Disconnect the G45*2 or G87*3 ECM connector.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
