REAR AIRBAG SENSOR INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • B00693Q

        Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • B0068ME

        If this procedure is performed without disconnecting the negative (-) terminal of the battery, the airbag may deploy even if an impact is applied only to the side airbag sensor assembly LH. Therefore, make sure that the negative (-) terminal of the battery is disconnected before performing this procedure.

      *B for Double Cab

      Attach the guide and hold the side airbag sensor assembly LH in place.

    4. Install the bolt.

      Torque:
      9.0 N*m  { 92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf }

      Note


      • If the side airbag sensor assembly LH has been dropped, replace it with a new one.

      • When installing the side airbag sensor assembly LH, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with or is not pinched between other parts.

      • Tighten the bolt while holding the side airbag sensor assembly LH because the side airbag sensor assembly LH guide is easily damaged.

    5. Before connecting the airbag connector, check that the position of the housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

    6. Connect the airbag connector.

      Note

      When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.


      1. While holding the CPA, be sure to engage the connectors until they are locked and check that the CPA is in its original position (when locking, make sure that a click sound can be heard).

        Note

        Do not push down the upper part of the CPA shown in the illustration when connecting the airbag connector.

    7. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the side airbag sensor assembly LH.

  3. INSTALL BACK PANEL TRIM (for Smart Cab)

  4. CONNECT REAR NO. 1 SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH (for Double Cab)


    1. Connect the rear No. 1 seat outer belt assembly LH floor anchor with the bolt.

      Torque:
      42 N*m  { 428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (for Double Cab)

  7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
