CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed or replaced during the side airbag sensor assembly removal/installation are shown below.
| Replacement Part or Procedure | Necessary Procedures | Effects / Inoperative when not Performed | Link |
|---|---|---|---|
| Disconnect cable from negative battery terminal | Drive the vehicle until stop and start control is permitted (approximately 5 to 60 minutes) | Stop and start system | |
| Memorize steering angle neutral point | Pre-collision system |
Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
PRECAUTION
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.
for Type B:
for Type C:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Double Cab)
for Seat Cushion Bench Type:
for Seat Cushion 60/40 Split Type:
REMOVE BACK PANEL TRIM (for Smart Cab)
REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (for Double Cab)
DISCONNECT REAR NO. 1 SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH (for Double Cab)
Remove the bolt and disconnect the rear No. 1 seat outer belt assembly LH floor anchor.
REMOVE LOWER QUARTER TRIM PANEL LH
for Smart Cab:
for Double Cab:
REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH
Check that the ignition switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
If this procedure is performed without disconnecting the negative (-) terminal of the battery, the airbag may deploy even if an impact is applied only to the side airbag sensor assembly LH. Therefore, make sure that the negative (-) terminal of the battery is disconnected before performing this procedure.
Disconnect the airbag connector.
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
Push down the housing lock and slide the CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)
| *a | Housing Lock | *b | CPA |
| *c | CPA Upper Part | - | - |
Push the housing lock again and disconnect the airbag connector.
Do not push down the upper part of the CPA shown in the illustration when disconnecting the airbag connector.
| *A | for Smart Cab |
| *B | for Double Cab |
Remove the bolt.
Loosen the bolt while holding the side airbag sensor assembly LH because the side airbag sensor assembly LH guide is easily damaged.
Detach the guide and remove the side airbag sensor assembly LH.
